Dear Singapore,
You break my heart these days. Pride comes before a fall. Note this warning.
You are turning 57 on 9th August 2022 and apparently "struggling" over an issue: that of repealing 377A. You can read an article in The Asean Post and determine the juxtaposition of an advanced economy besides apparently, and archaic law. So, it seems that Singapore is a little backward and not "keeping up with the times".
And then you have fathers who are fighters for the children and who believe that the repealing of 377A will affect our future generations and this you can read here. This is exciting to have fathers who care for the future generations. Any mothers onboard with this desire and stating it as openly?
For my friends outside of Singapore, what is 377A? It is a penal code that concerns outrageous indecent acts between men:
Outrages on decency 377A. Any male person who, in public or private, commits, or abets the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years.
As a Christ-centered single woman, I know what the Holy God has already intended in the realm of gender, marriage and sexual pleasures. His truths are extremely clear and there is no space to debate otherwise. God hates sexual perversion. It is SIN. Here are just some verses to help you along:
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”. . . And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. . . . Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2: 18, 22, 24) - God's intention is for one man and one woman to begin a family.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. (Romans 1: 22-28) - Fools act against God's original and ordained truth.
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. (Jude 1:7) - The Judgement to be expected by sexual perverts.
Wait, don't be offended by the truths. There is great hope in the Lord Jesus Christ:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) - True confession invites God's forgiveness.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14) - The plea of the Church for their nation. Are you crying out, Church in Singapore? Do you see the Father's grief in this context?
For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him. (2 Chronicles 30:9b) - The magnanimity of the Most High God is in display for all who repent and return to Him.
As a Singapore citizen, I did my part by writing to the Prime Minister's office, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Law Minister and Members of Parliament in my constituency. You see, I had some nagging questions. I truly wanted to know from these leaders if they actually approved of sexual perversion, a gross sin, in the Singapore society and what their intentions were in relation to our Next generation of children and even their actions to cancel such immorality. I was clear that I was not addressing the people who engaged in sexual perversion BUT the acts of sexual perversion. A standard reply by the staff from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on behalf of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister was that there has been extensive discussion with various groups and religious leaders and that “the Government was still seeking a consensus on this issue that strikes the right balance for society”. Seriously, I like to hear the voice of religious leaders on this issue. Did religious leaders regardless of faith accept and approve of sexual perversions during these meetings?
While the Government is still seeking a consensus, it will do well for all of us to revisit the originality of marriage. I quote Professor Robert Gagnon's Facebook post on 4th August 2022, albeit from an American Christian stance which resonates with me deeply:
Marriage is the single most significant structure in society. Radically redefining it at its very foundation so as to make gender differentiation irrelevant is a decisively non-conservative political stance, not to mention an unfaithful anti-Christian position that tacitly rejects the God of Abraham and Moses as well as the Lordship of Jesus Christ. There can be no negotiation on this point without upending the rug on which the conservative table is set. It takes more courage to hold the line here than on any other position. Conservatives should be known for courage, not cowardice; clarity, not confusion.

Oops.. I forgot to wish you, Singapore...blessed birthday! Stay conservative so that you can enjoy the blessings of God. Depravation seems to loom larger as you turn 57 - it is like the cheeky old man who is after cute little girls, outrageously indecent! Once you give in to saying 'aye' to the repealing of 377A, you might never say 'nay' to more 'exciting' and deplorable sexual habits, the push for gay marriages and open pedophilic activity. Wait, how about the same-sex couple adopting children and portraying a distorted form of family? And will you be introducing this acceptance of sexual perversion and distorted family structure in our schools? Where or when will you stop? You would have lost your moral ground once you say 'aye' to sodomy. You would have lost your moral ground once you introduce sodomic possibilities to the Next Generation of youths and children. So, where would you draw the line? Tell me, are we going to celebrate the nation's 60th or 65th with a president or prime minister or cabinet ministers who support or enjoy sodomy? I am truly curious.
And by the way, I read this article where the American Pelosi visited the nation and there in the last bits, I spotted that push of wokeness! How disgusting that just because American businesses are expected in our little island, we need to accept and expect sexual perversion! But thank God, the MHA in Singapore 'warned' foreign business from advocating "on socially divisive issues". Just a tiny pat on Pelosi's wrist. Makes me wonder if her suggestion was an intended part of the "strong bilateral partnership"! Surely, you know what is happening in the USA with their acceptance of sexual perversions. Have we failed to learn? But the good thing is that even the MHA recognises, in the context, that advocating for the group that engages in sexual perversions is socially divisive!
I encourage you to watch this video where Noelle Mering enlightens us on 'wokeness'. Do note that imported wokeness will only destroy the strong 'kampung spirit' that past leaders hoped and worked for. ("Kampung spirit" is the spirit that enjoys unity, helping each other out without any fear; it is blind to racism, language or religion. We are there to lend a hand but not to the extent of sweeping evil under the rug. I grew up experiencing this kampung spirit somewhat and verbalised it every time I recited our national pledge.)
One thing I have noted is the victim-mentality of the people who engage in sexual perversions - they say that they are marginalised. Really? Just because media and polls say so, one should not accept what is reported. Do your research, dear fellow countrymen.
For as long as I can remember, I have met effeminate young men in those old days, yes. . . during military days. They probably had homosexual tendencies but were private about their sexual perversions or preferences. I have seen enough of such men all around the nation working in various positions (pun not intended). So, what kind of marginalisation should we understand? According to Human Dignity Trust, "There have been few reports of discrimination and violence being committed against LGBT people in Singapore in recent years." And yet, if you scroll down the page, you would realise that Singapore agencies that said 'nay' to the people who engage in sexual perversions often did so because gay marriages or gay families were part of their agenda. So, the whole idea of discrimination and violence is highly questionable.
You know, Singapore, I have no problems to look a person who engages in sexual perversion in the eye and engage in a decent conversation filled with laughter and serious talks. Been there and done that. However, you cannot expect me to believe that they are marginalised, discriminated or being attacked physically frequently.
My faith in Christ teaches me to love everyone created in the image of God. But here is my stand: I stand against the repealing of 377A and refuse to accept that someone created in the image of God would engage in sexually perverse acts if they truly knew God, let alone consider introducing this filthy abomination into a society. The image of God is often tainted by the choices we make. We are not robots; we have choices. This is where the people who engage in sexual perversions need help; they need to discover their true image of who they are. This is how the church can help (boldly) - not to accept sexual perversions BUT to help the people trapped in such behavior to be free from these actions.
The Church in Singapore and all Singaporeans must know that the repeal of 377A effectively endorses sexual perversions between men and let me tell you, it does not stop here. We can easily see what is happening in the USA and Europe. Is this what Singaporeans want?
Finally, Singapore, you cannot deny that progressive immorality is just another step toward a slippery slope of backwardness. As it is, you are already supporting legalised abortion. Your fall will hurt you so badly that it might take a long time before your recover. Be very careful and be awake, not woke. Age does catch up on you, my dearest; watch your knees and decide if you want to bow to God Almighty who loves you immensely or to Baal who exalts perversions of all kinds.
This is my prayer for you as you turn 57:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the red dot on the world map, this tiny island called Singapore. Forgive us for not seeking Your ways and walking in the way of Your Holiness and Love. May the crimson blood of the Lord Jesus Christ cleanse Singapore of every dross and evil ways. You discipline us when we walk away from You. Thank you for tough love and grace. Right now, we need to have the fear of God rooted in us and the fear of men extracted from us. You said in Your Word that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people, and You mean this. Help your people to be courageous in choosing the righteousness of Christ. Unite Your Church to speak in one voice against blatant sins that grieve Your Heart. Give godly wisdom, favor and courage to government leaders who truly love Your Son to speak with Your authority, grace, truth and love. May the Truth that sets all free be present in the lives of the president and her administration. Finally, I declare by the faith in Christ and the authority You have given me, "Singapore will once again remember with increased fervour her calling as the Antioch of Asia. Singapore will know and fear the God Almighty. Come, Holy Spirit of revival and restore Singapore to the only Love she should have; pour a new and fresh Holy Fire into the hearts of all whom You love. The Name of the Lord Jesus Christ will ring louder in the coming days!" In the matchless Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His glory, Amen.
